How do you incorporate Hygge in a space that is over 4500 square feet?
The principle of Hygge is something that we have embraced in the way we live years ago and it's so awesome to see this way of living becoming more mainstream. If you aren't familiar with the term hygge (pronounced “HUE-gah”) it is essentially a Danish ritual of enjoying life's simple pleasures like friends, family, intimacy. You undoubtedly can find hundreds of definitions online and many will be accompanied by pictures of cozy blankets and a steaming cup of tea. But we aren't in the business of selling blankets or tea... how can we feel hygge in such a large space like our new venue?
To incorporate this idea of gratitude into our barn, we will be :
Integrating objects that tell a story.
Bringing the outdoors in with lots of natural light and greenery.
Using natural materials like wood, concrete, metal, stone, leather and natural fabrics.
Homey, soft indirect lighting to create the perfect ambiance.
Using texture to create a comfortable environment.
